Closed funding programmes

A number of forestry funds are being, or have been, phased out, including Erosion Control Funding Programme (ECFP) land treatment grants, Afforestation Grants Scheme (AGS), Permanent Forest Sink Initiative (PFSI) and the Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF). Find out about this funding, and what to do if you have existing approved grants.

Erosion Control Funding Programme (ECFP) land treatment grants

There will be no further ECFP land treatment funding rounds in its previous form under the ECFP. Find out what to do if you have an existing ECFP grant.

Afforestation Grant Scheme (AGS)

This scheme was replaced by the One Billion Trees Fund in December 2018, but this doesn’t affect your approved Afforestation Grant Scheme (AGS) grant. Here’s how to claim it.

Permanent Forest Sink Initiative (PFSI)

In December 2018, the Government announced it would discontinue the PFSI, and introduce a new permanent post-1989 forest activity into the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme to replace it. Here’s what to do if you’re a current participant in the PFSI.

Sustainable Farming Fund

The Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF) supported applied research and projects led by farmers, growers, and foresters. The SFF Main and SFF Tere have been replaced by Sustainable Food and Fibres Futures (SFF Futures).
